The Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Texas Tech University was effectively removed from campus this week by the national office following an unsanctioned party where brothers displayed a "No Means Yes, Yes Means Anal" banner. On Sept. The national office investigated the incident after photos leaked online and announced Monday it was placing the Texas Tech chapter "in escrow" and removing members involved in organizational violations. Part of our mission within Phi Delta Theta is to educate, and the intent of the comprehensive education offered is to empower remaining members with knowledge to help fight sexual assault at Texas Tech and other college campuses.

No means yes is supposed to indicate that even if a woman says no, have sex with her anyways. Yes means anal means that it is a very strong yes, and therefore, you can have anal sex with her. It's a chant made out of immaturity and lack of belief in being responsible for your actions. It was likely meant as a joke, but it's just not funny. It refers to Slovak language. It's a rape and anal sex joke.

Yale University didn't wait for federal civil rights officials to determine whether the presence of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity was contributing to a hostile sexual environment. The University has banned George W. Bush's old frat from the campus for five years. This was one of a series of incidents involving frats using misogynistic rituals in their initiation rites. A group of Yale students and alumni alleged in a confidential report to the Department of Education that these and the university's failure to address complaints about sexual violence on campus constituted a hostile sexual environment.






The head of an elite, all-male residential college has advocated for greater transparency and accountability regarding the cultural problems faced by some residential universities in Australia after a disturbing incident surfaced this week. The female student was terrified and incredibly distressed and has since left the university. While various experts agree that sexualised chants and degrading sexual slurs serve to dehumanise women and minimise sexual violence against them, it is still unclear how many young women at Australian universities are experiencing sexual assault and harassment.
